The Guilt Remains

What imbalances do we pass onto our children when they feel there is no recourse but to vacate their existence and leave us behind forever? We’re stuck with the uncertainty of everything.  While no one comes into this world perfect, I’ve wondered if I’d known before his birth that he’d suffer throughout his life as I’ve suffered throughout my own, would I’ve called it off before his suffering began? I thought about it.

I came so very close. Yet, I couldn’t do it. I knew he was a boy long before he was born; I needed him. Maybe I thought he could save me from my own faulty DNA.  It’s entirely my fault for allowing him into a world which didn’t deserve him. Even though he left the sweetest mark on everyone he met, not one of us deserved to have the pleasure of meeting him or knowing him. He didn’t deserve the pain of life, and it’s my fault for not helping him gather the tools he’d need to build a protective fortress around himself. Or even to handle the insignificant things that merely living throws along our way.

I’m not saying he was a saint, ok? What I mean is, he never deserved his suffering, and he beat himself up for every minor mistake that blew in his direction.

Poets, musicians, and artists, the sensitive souls who feel everything a little more than the average person. Who forms words that paint their passions and make the rest of us take what we can from their work. Perhaps finding meaning of life by reading their pain. They give us a window to wisdom, it’s up to us individually to heed what they dream of, regardless of if it makes sense.

The terror of abandonment, the horror of knowing the treasures we’ve saved of them is all that’s left of our children. We guard these precious memories.

How Do We Fight a Battle We Cannot See?

As time passes, we’ll learn to accept that our questions will always remain unanswered. Perhaps they’re better off shrouded in their mystery. If we knew that knowledge might kill us too. We cannot touch, feel, embrace what bemoans another. We might lead them to a place where they find solace in the most unusual things, however, when they cannot heal through 

antidepressants, psyche medications, talk therapy, electromagnet therapy, this lists go on forever, what shall we do?

Sometimes, the simplest moments hold the deepest wisdom. Let your thoughts settle, and clarity will find you. Use this quote space to share something inspirational or reflective, perfectly aligned with the theme of your article.
